The presidential election in Chile took place on September 4, 1952 . The new president was independent candidate Carlos Ibáñez del Campo , who received 47% of the vote and 92% in the National Congress .

Election System
The elections were held according to the absolute majority system, according to which the candidate who received more than 50% of the vote was considered elected. In the event that none of the candidates won more than 50% of the vote, the National Congress meeting at the general session voted for the two candidates with the largest number of votes. [1] As in previous elections , the main candidate received less than 50% of the vote and a parliament session was required to confirm the election results.
