Biography
Born in the town of Uzda . He received a traditional Jewish education. He studied at the Mir Yeshiva , and only reaching the age of 18, his father allowed him to study painting. For five years he studied at the Vilnius art school, then four years - at the Odessa art school (among his teachers was K.K. Kostandi ).
After World War I, he went to study at the National Higher School of Fine Arts in Paris , then continued his studies with J. Lefebvre at the Julian Academy .
In 1919 he emigrated to Eretz Yisrael . He taught for some time at Bezalel , and later at Mizrahi Teachers College. He was among the founders of the Union of Jewish Artists.
