History
According to legend, the name of the village is associated with the event of the XVI century. Returning after one of the Kazan campaigns , Ivan the Terrible allegedly decided to swim at the confluence of Sudogda and Klyazma , and at the same time almost drowned.
The first mentions of the local church date back to the 20th years of the 17th century: “The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord God and Our Savior I. Christ on the graveyard of the Baths”.
At this place, several wooden churches were replaced by decay, until a stone cathedral was built in the 19th century. In 1852 a warm temple was built (i.e. heated); 1869-1881 - the cold temple of Holy Transfiguration Cathedral was built. There were five thrones in the temple: in the cold - in the name of the Transfiguration of the Lord, St. blog Prince Alexander Nevsky and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. In the heat - in the name of St. Trinity and Protection of the Blessed Virgin. [four]
After the revolution, the temple was ravaged and abandoned. In such an abandoned form stood until the beginning of the XXI century. The cemetery, which was located next to the temple, was also used in the abandoned temple.
In 2001, the construction of the monastery complex around the old Holy Transfiguration Cathedral was started, and the cathedral itself was restored and restored.
In the course of the restoration of the monastery, unfortunately, there were some conflicts related to the transfer of gravestones by the monks to the cemetery at the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral.
