Filmfare Award for Best Female Voiceover ( Hindi फ़िल्मफ़ेयर सर्वश्रेष्ठ पार्श्व गायिका पुरस्कार ) - nomination for the oldest and most prestigious Bollywood film award ( Hindi film industry ) [1] [2] [3] Filmfare Awards , and compared in importance to the Oscars [ 4] , intended to reward representatives of the off-screen vocalist profession occupying a special place in Indian cinema [5] [6] for the best off-screen performance of a song / theme in a film for the previous year. The award-winning category for the best voice-over vocals, initially without separation of vocalists and vocalists, was introduced at the 6th Filmfare Awards in 1959 (as deserved in the previous, 1958), and was subsequently adopted by other Indian film awards, becoming one of their specific heck.

The introduction of the category was preceded by an event at the 4th Filmfare Awards in 1957, when the song “ Rasik Balma ” from the film , written by composers Dzhaykishan, was awarded as the best song in Bollywood movies Khasrat Jaipuri’s words, and the famous voice-over singer Lata Mangeshkar , who performed her in the film, refused to sing her live at the ceremony, motivating this with a protest against the lack of a category for vocalists [1] [7] [8] . She also became the first, non-alternative prize winner two years later and practically “monopolized” female vocals in this category until the mid-1960s. Subsequently (after 1967), on her own initiative, the category was divided into two , in which male and female singers competed separately [7] .
The last, in 2019, award for the best female voice-over vocals was awarded to singer Shreya Ghoshal , who performed the song “Ghoomar” for the film “ Padmavati ” (2018).
Award Stats
- The largest number of awards won in the category : Asha Bhosle (7 victories by 1979) and Alka Yagnik who caught up to her by 2005 [9] . Second place with five victories is Shreya Ghoshal .
It should be borne in mind that after 1971, Lata Mangeshkar was not nominated for the prize, including, at her own request, in order to “further encourage young talents”. In 1979, her younger sister Asha followed suit, also asking her to no longer be included in the list of candidates for the award [10] .
Two champions of the award share two more records among themselves:
- on the “monopolization” of all category nominations in any year (Asha Bhosle owned all three nominations in 1973, Alke Yagnik - all four in 1994, one of which was joint with ).

- The largest number of nominations : Alka Yagnik (35) [9] , she also owns the largest number of consecutive nominations , both by year and by total number - Yagnik was nominated for a prize for 14 consecutive years (from 1992 to 2005), during which time she was nominated with 31 songs recorded for 30 films, and won 6 of its seven times.
