Biography

Sylvia Vrethammar was born in the city of Uddevalla in the family of Harald and Britta Vrethammar. Her mother was a piano teacher.

Sylvia Wrethammar’s most famous song is “Y Viva España” (1974), which reached # 4 on the UK Singles Chart in September 1974. The single sold over a million copies and became “golden” [2] . In Britain, the singer was known as Sylvia [3] .

Sylvia Vrethammar took part in the Swedish Melodifestivalen (Eurovision qualifying competition) five times, including in 2002 with the song “Hon är en annan nu” and in 2013, where she performed the song “Trivialitet” in the semifinals, but took only seventh place .
