Biography
Sergei Kuznetsov was born in 1915 in the village of Novodomoseykino (now the Northern District of the Orenburg Region ). Prior to being drafted into the army, he worked as a tractor driver on a collective farm . In 1941, Kuznetsov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. From the same year - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By September 1943, Senior Sergeant Sergey Kuznetsov commanded the guns of the 611th Fighter-Antitank Artillery Regiment of the 40th Army of the Voronezh Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper . On the night of September 23-24, 1943 Kuznetsov crossed the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Khodorov in the Mironovsky district of the Kiev region of the Ukrainian SSR and took an active part in the battles for the capture and retention of the bridgehead on its western shore, destroying several enemy firing points [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated December 24, 1943, Senior Sergeant Sergey Kuznetsov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
January 16, 1944 Kuznetsov died January 16, 1944 in the battle for the village. Streams ( Zhmerynsky district , Vinnitsa region . He was buried in the city of Zhmerynka [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and a number of medals [1] .
In honor of Kuznetsov, a school in Novodomoseykino and a street in Severny [1] are named.
