History
On the territory of Plemer-Bodu were found traces of a person from different eras, starting with the Paleolithic . In the VI century, a monk from the British Isles named Bodo (Bodu) settled in this place. Translated from the Breton Pleuder-Baudou means “The Arrival of Baudoux.” At about the same time, another monk, Jósek, founded a small monastery here. In the Middle Ages, Seniors Kezurek and Kerduel fought for Plemyra Bodu; in the former there was an old chapel of Saint Józek, the second built a castle that has survived to this day.
The constituent part of Plemer-Baudoux commune is Grand Island, which has been connected to the mainland by a bridge since 1894. In the XIX - early XX centuries, granite quarries were actively developed on the island. Granite Island Grand was used mainly for the manufacture of pavers and curbs, including Paris.
