Chroococcus ( lat. Chroococcus ) is a species of cyanobacteria of the order of chroococcal ( Chroococcales ), represented by small cells that do not form a thallus, sometimes forming small colonies, from two to four cells separated by a thin septum and covered with a rather thick mucous layer.
