Biography
Studied in Krakow . Priestly ordination took in 1792 .
He served as rector in a village near Ostroleka , and later in Zambrow .
Archdeacon - since 1822, from 1829 - Dean of the Seinen chapter.
On December 15, 1828, Pope Leo XII appointed Horomansky the auxiliary bishop of the Seinen diocese and the titular bishop . He took up pastoral duties in February 1829.
During the Polish uprising of 1830, he held a loyal position in relation to the Russian authorities. In 1832, after the abolition of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Poland and the approval of the new status of the Kingdom of Poland as part of the Russian Empire, he led the Polish deputation to Emperor Nicholas I in Petersburg . He was one of the closest assistants and advisers to the Viceroy of the Kingdom of Poland, His Excellency Prince of Warsaw, Field Marshal I. Paskevich , who called him "the venerable old man." He contributed to the Russification of Polish lands, so on July 30, 1837 he took part in the consecration of the first Orthodox Cathedral in Warsaw, which caused widespread indignation among Catholics. He was awarded the Order of St. Anne of the 1st degree.
By the highest decree of the emperor of August 16, 1836, he was elevated to the rank of Warsaw Archbishop Metropolitan. On November 21, 1836, Pope Gregory XVI appointed Horomanski as Archbishop of Warsaw . He began his duties on January 15, 1837.
The first of the archbishops of Warsaw stopped using the title of Primate of the Kingdom of Poland.
