Wikipedia for iOS and Android
The official iOS application from the Wikimedia Foundation is called “Wikipedia Mobile,” for Android is called “Wikipedia.” Applications are free. They provide the opportunity to read Wikipedia articles [8] , and are similar to the mobile version of Wikipedia. They also allow users to find articles with objects on the map about objects located near the user.
The beta version of the Android application since June 2014 does not use the browser engine built into the OS to display articles, and also allows you to edit articles by editing wikitext. [9] The source code of the WikipediaApp application is always available at https://github.com/wikimedia/apps-android-wikipedia
Unofficial Applications
The main purpose of applications is to display articles, as well as typical features: search for articles, bookmarks, sharing or enlarging images. Some of them:
- "All Of Wikipedia - Offline" from the developer Brilliant (ish) Software [10]
- "WikiNodes" from the developer of Institute for Dynamic Educational Advancement [11]
- and others
