Scientific Activities

Along with Jack Goldstone and Randall Collins, he is one of the largest historical macrosociologists and experts in the field of revolution theory and state decays. The most famous work is “States and Social Revolutions”, published in 1979 and the result of a doctoral dissertation. [6] American political analyst Jack Goldstone, who put forward the concept of 4 generations of researchers in the theory of revolution, attributed the work of T. Skokpol to the third generation and considered it the high point of this research wave. [7] State-centered models have become a distinguishing feature of this generation of researchers. [eight]

Tede Skokpol owns one of the most popular definition among researchers of the term “revolution”: [9] “Social revolutions are fast, fundamental transformations of the social state and class structures; and they are accompanied and partially conducted through class uprisings from below. ” [10] Many of the conclusions of the American political scientist have become the most quoted in research and popular science literature. [eleven]

Following the American historian Crane Brinton, Ted Skokpol believes that after revolutions, more centralized states emerge, which are intensifying in internal affairs and gaining greater influence in international relations. [12] After Skocpol, this conclusion was accepted by many researchers and is considered one of the most common. [13] Skokpol supported the idea of the Israeli sociologist Shmuel Eisenstadt that the causes of revolutions are a combination of external factors and internal conflict in the states. [14] The American political analyst saw these reasons in the inability of the state to mobilize resources in order to cope with international competition. [15] T. Skokpol asserted in general that revolution is required for the modernization of a state that does not stand up to competition in the international arena. [15]
