Hypatopa pica (lat.) Is a species of small moth-like butterflies of the genus Hypatopa from the family of gloomy moths ( Blastobasidae , Gelechioidea ). The endemic of Costa Rica ( Central America ). The length of the front wings 6.8-8.5 mm. The color of the front wings is brown with an admixture of orange, dark brown and white scales; rear wings are pale gray. It has similarities with the appearance of Hypatopa hecate , differing from them in details of the structure of the genitals. The species was first described in 2013 by the American lepidopterist David Adamski (David Adamski, Department of Entomology, National Museum of Natural History , Smithsonian Institution , Washington ). The name of the species is derived from the Latin word pica (jay or magpie) [1] .
