Geography
The village is located on the highway Omsk - Cherlak - Pavlodar - Semipalatinsk .
History
The settlement was founded as the Yamyshev fortress by a detachment of Lieutenant Colonel I. D. Buchholz in October 1715 on the right bank of the Irtysh River , near the Yamyshevsky Salt Lake. [2]
In 1836, the fortress was abolished at the request of the West Siberian Governor-General Prince Gorchakov, the fortress became known as the Yamyshev Cossack village. [3]
Population
In 1999, the population of the village was 1,509 people (768 men and 741 women) [4] . According to the 2009 census , 1223 people lived in the village (636 men and 587 women) [4] .
Famous People
In 1835, the Russian geographer Grigory Nikolayevich Potanin was born in the Yamyshevsky fortress.
