Biography
Ivan Kuznetsov was born on May 4, 1922 in the village of Cherkassy (now the Pankrushikha District of the Altai Territory ). After completing seven classes of school and courses, teachers worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature in a junior high school. In November 1941, Kuznetsov was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1942, he graduated from the Kiev Artillery School. Since August 1942 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Took part in battles on the Bryansk , Central , 1st and 4th Ukrainian fronts [1] .
By September 1943, Lieutenant Ivan Kuznetsov commanded the artillery battery of the 229th rifle regiment of the 8th rifle division of the 13th Army of the Central Front . Distinguished during the battle for the Dnieper . On September 22, 1943, the Kuznetsov battery crossed the Dnieper near the village of Navozy (now Dniprovskoye, Chernihiv district, Chernihiv region of Ukraine ) and took an active part in the battles to seize, hold and expand the bridgehead on its western shore, destroying 7 fire points, 1 armored personnel carrier, around platoon of enemy infantry. Kuznetsov personally knocked out an enemy tank and armored vehicle [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 16, 1943, for "skillful performance of combat tasks, courage and heroism shown in battles with German invaders," Lieutenant Ivan Kuznetsov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 2051 [1] .
In June 1945, in the rank of Senior Lieutenant Kuznetsov was dismissed. He lived and worked in Kamen-na-Obi . Died September 29, 1979 [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Star and a number of medals [1] .
