As part of the enlargement of the pre-revolutionary volosts of the province, the new Novosokolnichesky volost was formed in accordance with the decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee on April 10, 1924 from the abolished Bologovsky and Zagarsky volosts of the Velikoluksky district and part of the Mayevskaya (former Sokolnitsky) volost of Neael district. A decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of June 6, 1925 added to the volost part of the villages from the Mayevskaya volost of the Nevelsky district. It is divided into village councils: Bologovsky, Novosokolnichesky, Rakovsky, Ramensky, Troinevsky. By a decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of June 6, 1925, the settlement of Novosokolniki was approved by the city. In October 1925, the Okniysky Village Council was formed, and Novosokolniki was renamed Playa in connection with the transfer of the center to the Playa graveyard, however, in 1926 the Novosokolniki Village Council was re-created, with the simultaneous preservation of Playa.
