Biography

Hubert Skshipchak was born on September 29, 1943 in the city of Wejherowo . He began to actively engage in boxing in early childhood, was trained at the clubs WKS Gryf and GKS WybrzeΕΌe. He achieved his first serious success in the ring in 1965, when he took second place in the flyweight category at the Polish Championship (lost to Arthur Olech in the final match). This achievement allowed him to break into the main team of the national team and go to the European Championship in East Berlin - here he reached the finals, after which he lost to the German Hans Freistadt with a score of 2: 3. A year later, he was again second in Poland, in the decisive match he had to box with Olech, but could not enter the ring due to a knee injury.

In 1967, Skrzypczak attended the European Championships in Rome, where he defeated all his rivals and thereby won a gold medal. A year later, he again received the silver of the national championship. Since the competition in the national team was too high, to get to the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City he had to lose weight and go down to the minimum weight category. At the Olympics, Skshipchak managed to reach the stage of the semi-finals, then with a score of 1: 4 he lost to Korean Ji Young Joo .

Having received a bronze Olympic medal, Hubert Skshipchak continued to enter the ring for a long time as part of the national team, taking part in major international and local tournaments. So, in 1970, he finally became the champion of Poland, but the next season he lost this title, having been defeated by Leszek Blazzynski . He remained an active athlete until 1975, however, recently he has not shown any significant results, in particular, he took only fifth place at the Polish championship, having left the fight for medals already at the stage of quarter finals. He ended his career as an athlete with 243 fights on his track record: 208 of them ended in victory for him, 32 for defeat, in three cases a draw was recorded. For outstanding sports achievements he was awarded the honorary title "Honored Master of Sports".
