Biography

Born in the village of Myane, Tedzhensky district, Transcaspian region . Father Touch-Geok is the leader of the village Serdar , a prosperous miller, mother is the daughter of an Afghan vizier (later Atabaev never concealed his “non-proletarian” origin).

From 6 years old - an orphan. He graduated from the 2-class Russian-native school in the city of Tedzhen, the 2-class Tedzhensky Russian-native city school ( 1899-1903 ), the Tashkent teacher's seminary (1903-07). In 1908, he took the name Atabaev - on behalf of M. Atabaev's seminar friend.

He taught at the RTSh of the Merv county , headed a single-school college in the village of Bakharden , was an interpreter for the head of Tedzhensk county, who served in the office of the Merv Bank. He collaborated with the first Social Revolutionary Bolshevik government of the Transcaspian region. Since 1918 - a member of the Left Social Revolutionary Party .

In February 1919 joined the RCP (b) with the maintenance of experience. In the spring of 1919 - an employee of the RVS apparatus of the Transcaspian Front . Then deputy. Chairman of the Executive Committee of Merv County.

In October 1922, he was summoned to Moscow with a report, after a weak report to the Organizing Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPSU (B.) Received a severe reprimand and was relieved of his post for "careless liberal attitude towards the leader of the Basmachian gangs Bahram-Kurbashi." On the recommendation of V.I. Lenin, he was introduced to the board of the People's Commissariat for Nationalities Affairs.

He was arrested in the summer of 1937. He was sentenced on February 8, 1938, to the National Police Heads , on charges of participation in a counter-revolutionary nationalist terrorist organization. Shot on February 10, 1938 . Rehabilitated on December 22, 1956

Memory

Atabaev - the hero of several literary and artistic works. In 1984, based on the novel by B. Kerbabaev, the feature film “Kaygysyz Atabaev” was shot. In 1967, Atabaev erected a monument in the center of Ashgabat (reconstructed in 1970). Demolished in 1994.
