Biography
Eridadi Mukwanga was born on July 12, 1943 in the city of Kawanda , Busoga province. He began to actively engage in boxing in early childhood, was trained at a local boxing club. Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City - Mexican Roberto Cervantes and Korean Chan Gyu Chol, respectively, won points in the quarterfinals and semifinals. In the decisive match of the Olympics, however, he lost a knockout to the Soviet boxer Valerian Sokolov (in the second round, the judge was forced to stop the fight due to the obvious advantage of the opponent).
Having received a silver Olympic medal (the first in the history of Uganda), Mukwang for some time remained in the main team of the national team, but did not show any outstanding results. In 1970, he boxed at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, but was knocked out of the fight for medals in his first match at the tournament.
He died in January 1998 (or in December 1997), the exact date and circumstances of the death are unknown [1] .
