Biography
Boris Kuznetsov was born in 1914 in the city of Malin (now the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine ). He graduated from five grades of school and evening school. In 1934, Kuznetsov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. He graduated from junior lieutenant courses. He participated in the battles of the Soviet-Finnish war, being the foreman of a company of the 93rd separate combat engineer battalion of the 62nd Rifle Division of the 13th Army of the North-Western Front [1] .
February 22, 1940 Kuznetsov participated in the battle for the Finnish command post near the village of Mutaranto . All day the infantry tried to storm the enemy pillbox, but each time with heavy losses was forced to withdraw. Together with the commander of the sapper platoon, Lieutenant Fedorchuk Kuznetsov, waiting for the darkness, gathered a group of volunteers and, despite the extremely difficult conditions, successfully blew up the pillbox with grenades. On February 23, 1940, thanks to the hole formed in the Finnish defense as a result of the destruction of the bunker, the Soviet troops went behind enemy lines and captured eighteen other bunkers [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of April 7, 1940, for “bravery and courage shown in the battles with the White Finns,” Sergeant Boris Kuznetsov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 504 [1] .
He participated in the battles of the Great Patriotic War, in the rank of lieutenant he commanded a platoon, company. September 22, 1941 Kuznetsov died in battle near Chernigov [1] .
