Qualification System
26 places in the Champions League 2013/2014 were allocated according to the EKB rating for 2013 [2] , taking into account the results of the performances of club teams of the EKB member countries in European competition over the course of three seasons (2009 / 20010–2011 / 2012). According to him, places in the League were received by clubs from 16 countries: Italy , Poland (3 teams each), Russia , Belgium , Turkey , France , Germany , Greece (all 2), Slovenia , Austria , Spain , Romania , Serbia , Montenegro , Bulgaria and Czech Republic (1 team each). Another 2 places were to be allocated by special invitation to the ECB (wildcard). After refusing to participate in the League of clubs from Spain and Serbia, as well as one of the two representatives of Greece, the number of vacancies increased to five. These places were received by Russia, Turkey, Austria, the Czech Republic and Switzerland [3] .

Draw System
The competition consisted of a preliminary stage, two rounds of the playoffs and the final stage. At the preliminary stage, 28 participating teams are divided into 7 groups. In groups, teams play in two rounds. For victories with a score of 3: 0 and 3: 1, teams receive 3 points each, for victories 3: 2 - 2 points each, for defeats 2: 3 - 1 point each, for defeats 0: 3 and 1: 3 points are not awarded. The best teams from the groups and 6 teams from seven who took second places in the groups go to the playoffs. From the number of teams that reached the playoffs, the owner of the final stage is selected and allowed directly into the final round of the draw.
12 teams participating in the 1/8-finals of the playoffs (playoffs 12) are divided into pairs and spend two matches with each other on the road. The winner of the pair is the team that won two victories. In case of equal victories, the winner is the team that scored the most points in the two-match series, the accrual system of which is similar to that used at the preliminary stage. If both teams scored the same number of points, then an additional (“golden”) set is assigned, the winner of which goes to the quarter finals of the playoffs.
6 teams participating in the quarter-finals of the playoffs (playoffs 6) using the same system determine the three participants in the final stage, where the host team of the final joins them.
The final stage is held in the format of “final four” - a semi-final and two finals (for 3rd and 1st places).
The draw of the preliminary stage was held in Vienna on June 28, 2013 [6] . According to its results, the teams are divided into 7 groups.
