At the end of 2011, due to the debt of the Surakarta municipality to the state-owned energy company (PLN) worth 8.9 billion Indonesian rupees (about $ 1 million), the latter stopped supplying electricity to illuminate the city shortly before Christmas , which caused discontent among residents. Djokovi in a short time was able to mobilize the necessary funds and personally appeared in the local PLN branch to pay off the debt [9] .
