Biography
2004 - champion of Kazakhstan among cadets and champion of Asia among cadets.
2005 - champion of Kazakhstan among youth.
2007 - Finalist of the Games of the Peoples of Kazakhstan.
2008 - in February, in the finals of the traditional international boxing tournament of class “A” in Plovdiv ( Bulgaria ), Merei won the 2005 world champion from Cuba Ugas Hernandez Yordenis and received the prize of the best boxer of the tournament [1] .
In March, at the international tournament “Cup of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, a 19-year-old boxer sensationally won the bronze medalist of the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Serik Eleuov, and won a ticket to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing [2] .
In August, at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, he performed in the weight category up to 60 kg . In the first round, he won the fight against the Hungarian Miklos Varga , but in the next round he lost to the Chinese Hu Qing .

In July 2013, he became the champion of Asia in the weight of 64 kg in the capital of Jordan, Amman [6] , defeating the Mongolian Uranchimegiyin Monkh-Erdene in the final.
October 26, 2013 became the world champion in amateur boxing in the weight category up to 64 kg, which took place in Almaty , defeating Yasniel Toledo, a boxer from Cuba, with a score of 2-1 in rounds [7] . According to the results of the season, he was recognized by the Asian Boxing Federation “Best Boxer of Asia-2013” [8] .
