Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Thani ( Arabic: عبد الله بن خليفة آل ثاني ; born 1959 , Doha , Qatar ) was the Prime Minister of Qatar from October 29, 1996 to April 3, 2007 . He served as an adviser to the emir and often represented him at ceremonies and receptions.

Early Years and Education
Abdullah Al Thani is the eldest son of the former 8th Emir of Qatar, Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani and his third wife, Sheikh Rudhi bin Jassim bin Jabr Al Thani. The third son of his father. Sheikh Abdullah is also the younger half-brother of the former emir of Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani .
Sheikh Abdullah received his school education in Qatar , receiving his school certificate in 1975, and in December 1976 he graduated from the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst .
Career
After completing her training, Sheikh Abdullah served and held a number of important posts in the Armed Forces of Qatar until 1989, when he was appointed assistant commander of the armed forces of Qatar, with the rank of lieutenant colonel. In 1979, Abdullah was appointed chairman of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and held this post until 1989.
On July 17, 1989, he was appointed Minister of the Interior. In addition to this post, July 11, 1995, Abdullah became Deputy Prime Minister. On October 29, 1996, he assumed the post of Prime Minister of Qatar and combined it with the post of Minister of the Interior until January 2, 2001. On April 3, 2007, Sheikh Abdullah resigned from his post as Prime Minister and was replaced by then Foreign Minister Hamad bin Jasim bin Jaber Al Thani . [one]
Personal life
Sheikh Abdullah has 6 sons: Hamad, Sukhaim, Tamim, Fahad, Muhammad and Khalifa. He is fluent in English and French .
Abdullah owns several racehorses, and since 2012 he managed to win with them the help of EUR 2,070,043.78 in prize money. [2]
