Anatoly Ivanovich Kuznetsov ( February 27, 1914 - January 19, 1943 ) - military pilot, captain of the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army , participant in the Great Patriotic War , Hero of the Soviet Union (1943).

Biography

He graduated from seven grades of the school and three courses of the flour-elevator technical school.

In 1936 he was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. In 1938 he graduated from the Yeisk Naval Aviation School of Pilots.

He participated in the battles of the Soviet-Finnish war . He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner.

Since June 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. He participated in battles on the Hanko Peninsula, the defense of Tallinn . In October 1941 he was shell-shocked [1] .

By the beginning of 1943 he was the navigator of the 4th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 61st Fighter Aviation Brigade of the Baltic Fleet Air Force. During his participation in the battles, he flew 270 sorties, took part in 60 air battles, personally shooting down 8 enemy aircraft.

January 19, 1943 during the adjustment of artillery fire " I-16 " Kuznetsov was shot down, the pilot died. The name is immortalized at the mass grave of the city of Kirovsk, Leningrad Region [1] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 22, 1943 for captain Anatoly Kuznetsov, posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union for “exemplary execution of the combat missions of command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown” of the guard. He was also awarded the Order of Lenin and three orders of the Red Banner [1] .
