Jasim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani ( Arabic: جاسم بن حمد آل ثاني ; born August 25, 1978 , Doha , Qatar ) is the former Crown Prince of Qatar . He is the third oldest son of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani [1] and the first son of his second wife, Sheikh Moza, Bint Nasser al Misned [2] .

Biography
Jasim received his education at the British Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst [2] [3] . After graduation, Sheikh Jasim was appointed 2nd Lieutenant of the Qatar Armed Forces on August 9, 1996. And on October 23 of that year, he became the Crown Prince of Qatar [2] . In this place, he replaced his older half-brother Mishaal bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani [2] [4] . Because of his growing ambitions for gaining more power [2] , Jasim was forced (August 5, 2003) to renounce his rights as crown prince in favor of his younger brother Sheikh Tamim [5] .
Jasim was the personal representative of the former emir, his father. Sheikh Jassim has also been honorary president of the Qatar National Cancer Society (QNCS) since 1997. In addition, he has been chairman of the Supreme Committee for Coordination and Consequences since 1999, and chairman of the Supreme Council for Ecology and Natural Resources since 2000. He has also been a patron of the Aspire Academy of Sportsmanship since 2003.
Wedding and Children
Sheikh Jasim married Sheikh Butayn Bint Ahmad Al Thani, daughter of Sheikh Hamad bin Ali Al Thani, on March 30, 2006 . The ceremony took place at the Al-Wajbah Palace in Doha. The couple has seven children, three sons and four daughters:
