Biography
Antonio Roldan was born on June 15, 1946 in Mexico City . He began to actively engage in boxing at the age of fifteen, immediately began to show decent results and was enrolled in the main team of the national team. Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1968 Summer Home Olympics , where he defeated all his rivals, including Kenyan Philip Varuinge and American Albert Robinson in the semifinals and finals, respectively. In the final fight, Robinson looked preferable, but the referee disqualified him for two deliberate head hits and, to the delight of local fans, gave the victory to the Mexican [1] .
Having received a gold Olympic medal, Roldan decided to try himself among the professionals and left the team. His professional debut took place in February 1969, he defeated his first American opponent Jerry Williams by technical knockout in the second round. However, his subsequent career was not very successful, in September 1973, the Mexican suffered a crushing defeat from the famous American boxer Armando Muñiz , after which he decided to end his career as an athlete. In total, in professional boxing he spent 6 fights, 3 of them finished with victory (including 2 ahead of schedule), lost 2 times, in two cases a draw was recorded.
After completing his sports career, Antonio Roldan went into business, opening his own sportswear store. Also for quite some time he worked as a boxing trainer, trained many talented fighters. Married, has three children [2] .
