During the war years
Formed on September 17, 1941 by combining many partisan formations that fought against Japan from the 1920s on the territory of North Korea, Manchuria and China itself.
In 1941-1944, it was subordinate to the nationalist government of China and was actually part of the National Revolutionary Army . This condition was lifted after the Provisional Government was able to improve the financial situation.
As part of British troops, the army took part in hostilities in the territories of Burma and India. Its number was constantly growing due to the Koreans fleeing the Japanese occupation.
Before the end of World War II, the Liberation Army was preparing to fight against the Japanese in Korea in alliance with American troops, but the plans were not implemented due to the adoption of the Potsdam Declaration by Japan on August 15, 1945 .
