The tram in Dresden is the backbone of the city’s transport system. The history of its development began in 1872 with the discovery of the trail from the city center to the village of Blazewitz. The track width is unusual, it is 1450 mm. The platforms are made flush with the floor level of the trams. Most trams have a low floor, their length is from 30 to 45 meters. There are also several wagons made in the Czech Republic that have a high floor level - they drive exclusively in a couple of two wagons.
Freight Tram
The Volkswagen plant uses two 60-meter-long wagons to transport goods between workshops inside the city.
