Biography

Born on June 26 ( July 9 ), 1909 in Kremenchug (now Poltava region , Ukraine ), where his father, Max Todresovich Orlovich, was co-owner of the “Trading House of the Brothers Isaac and Max Orlovich” (for the sale of pharmaceutical plants and goods). [2]

From 1930, he worked at the Moscow United Cable Plant (later - Elektroprovod plant) in the rationalization department as a technician on management and production organization and scientific labor organization [1] . Here he also worked in the following positions: foreman in workshops, technologist, planner, shop foreman, laboratory chief, head of the quality control department, chief engineer [1] . During the Great Patriotic War, he led the evacuation of plant equipment and the commissioning of new factories in the evacuation of new plants [1] .

During the Great Patriotic War, under the leadership of Teodor Orlovich, a special construction cable for laying in water was developed, designed to ensure the success of the Soviet troops in battles on the Tikhvin direction in the blocked Leningrad [3]

In 1947, together with M. M. Petrov, Teodor Orlovich proposed a new design of wires for the ignition system of aircraft engines, capable of withstanding high voltage with small dimensions and weight after a long stay in aggressive media [3] .

In 1950, by order of the minister, he was instructed to organize an experimental design bureau at the Elektroprovod plant to develop and organize the production of cables for radar and supersonic aviation, which he later headed [1] [4] . The founding day of this bureau is considered to be January 1, 1951.

In 1956, based on the design bureau at the “Elektroprovod” plant, he organized a new independent enterprise - the cable industry bureau with pilot production, which included his colleagues from “Electrical wiring”, as well as employees of the Koopprovodnik artel [1] . The main task of this design bureau was to provide modern wires and cables for the most important branches of the national economy [1] . It was created on August 6, 1956 by order of the Minister of Electrical Industry [4] . In 1958, the OKB KP relocated to the suburban town of Mytishchi [4] . During the time when Orlovich headed the OKB KP, it gained great prestige among enterprises creating modern aerospace and other equipment [5] .

From 1970 to 1982, he worked at VNIIKP as head of the laboratory and advisor to the director of the institute [1] [4] .

He died on June 20, 1984 in Moscow.
