Arabia ( other Persian Arabâya ) or Achaemenid Arabia - satrapiya (province) of the Achaemenid empire .
Achaemenid Arabia occupied the land between the Nile Delta and Mesopotamia . According to Herodotus , Cambysus II did not subjugate the Arabs when, in 525 BC. e. attacked Egypt. His successor Darius I mentions the Arabs in the Behistun inscription , which may indicate that this Persian king conquered part of the Arabian Peninsula [1] .
Arabs were exempted from taxation. Instead, they delivered 1,000 talents of incense per year. They also helped the Achaemenid army crossing the desert invade Egypt by providing wineskins .
