History
The Orthodox community in the city of Pori arose in 1940 in connection with the migration of the Orthodox inhabitants of the Karelian Isthmus deep into Finland. Initially, the Finnish community rented a city building adapted for a temple, and in 2002, according to the project of architect and pastor Matti Porkka ( Tornio ), she built an Orthodox church in the district , near the .
In 2001, the archbishop of Karelian Leo (Makkonen) consecrated the place for the construction of the church, and on September 29, 2002, the newly-built church was consecrated by Metropolitan Helsingfors Ambrose (Jaaskelyainen) .
The iconostasis of the temple was performed by the icon painter Margit Lintu ( Tampere ), and other temple icons by the icon painter Harry Stephanius ( Pori ).
