History
In 1970 [1] , six-digit postal codes ( 37NNNN ) were introduced throughout the USSR , including the Azerbaijan SSR .
Description
In independent Azerbaijan, a four-digit digital postal code with a state prefix of the format AZ NNNN is used . The first two digits indicate the region of Azerbaijan in accordance with modern administrative divisions, including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic [2] [3] .
