History

INFORSE was founded in 1992 at the Global Forum, a parallel forum of the United Nations Conference on the Environment (Earth Summit) . In 1998, INFORSE received consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) [1] . INFORSE works with regional coordinators from Asia , Africa and Europe .

INFORSE-Europe - The European part of INFORSE, with 80 members, is the largest of the 7 INFORSE regions. INFORSE-Europe has members in Russia , Belarus , Ukraine , Kazakhstan , Armenia , Kyrgyzstan , Georgia and in 20 of 27 countries. [2]

In 2004, INFORSE-Europe initiated, together with other organizations, the creation of educational materials for students on topics related to energy and climate change. SPIRE is an educational program on energy and the environment for children 10-15 years old. SPARE ( SPARE ) operates in 13 countries of Eastern Europe , the Caucasus and Central Asia . National coordinators meet once a year. [2]

Project cooperation of NGOs in Russian-speaking countries

Belarus

The ECSE project (2012-14) develops a local strategy for more sustainable energy supply in Belarus in three areas: Braslav , Schuchin and Pukhovichi . The ADVICE project provides free assistance on energy conservation and renewable energy in Minsk [3] . The projects are implemented jointly with partners from the Center for Environmental Solutions, Belarus [4] and the Skone Energy Agency [5] , Sweden.

Kazakhstan

The Flame Azur project (2004-06) was presented for the introduction and dissemination of biogas technologies in Central Kazakhstan , as well as improving the economic, environmental and social situation in rural communities. The project was implemented jointly with partners from Ecomuseum, Kazakhstan [6] and the Renewable Energy Agency (AVE), Ukraine [7] [8] .

Russia

The project (2003-04) was developed to implement the sustainable energy plan in Russia. The project was carried out jointly with partners from Environmental Protection, Moscow, Kaliningrad [9] , the Socio-Ecological Union [10] and the International Socio-Ecological Union [11] .

Ukraine

The project (2001) was developed for holding exhibitions on sustainable energy, which were organized in 12 places throughout Ukraine with the support of the journal Zelena Energetika [12] , [7] .

Actions

  • Creating a 100% renewable energy scenario with a four Energy Efficiency Ratio by 2050. Global, EU-27 and European national scenarios are being developed. The name of the sustainable energy model is INFORSE Vision 2050 . Scenarios were also created for Russian-speaking countries such as Belarus [13] , Russia [14] , Ukraine [15] , Latvia [16] , Lithuania [17] and Estonia [18] .
  • International database [19] , web resources based on EU policies [20] , school materials [21] .
  • Online courses "Technologies for the use of renewable energy sources" (DIERET), exist in English and Russian [22] [23] .
  • A quarterly newsletter: Sustainable Energy News (SEN) has been published since 1992 [24] .
  • Participation in United Nations conferences as an observer for NGOs, as INFORSE has Consultative Status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) .
