Pantar ( indon. Pulau Pantar ) - the second largest island of the Alor archipelago, which is in turn part of the Lesser Sunda Islands . Administratively, it is part of the Alor County of the Indonesian province of East Nusa Tengara .

Geographical features
To the east of Pantara is the island of Alor , to the west is the island of Lomblin , to the south is the island of Timor , separated from Pantara by the wide Ombai Strait (about 72 km wide). In the north, the island is washed by the waters of the Banda Sea . It is about 50 km from north to south and from 11 to 29 km from west to east. The area of Pantara is 686.52 km² [1] . The eastern part of the island is more hilly, the western part is flatter, gradually lowering westward from the Sirung volcano (900 m). The highest accurate island is the Delaki volcano, located on the southern tip of Pantara and is 1318 m above sea level [2] . Due to lower absolute elevations, Pantar receives less rainfall than neighboring Alor. The dry season lasts most of the year and is interrupted only by a short rainy season, lasting throughout January and February.
According to 2010 data, the population of Pantar is 39,896 people [3] . The largest settlement is the city of Baranus. The economy of the island is based on agriculture and fishing. The main agricultural crops: rice, corn and cassava. Recently, industrial production of carrageenan has been established on the north coast. A regular ferry service is available.
