Kim Wu Gil ( cor. Октября , October 17, 1949 ) - Korean boxer of the minimum weight category, played for the DPRK national team in the first half of the 1970s. Silver medalist of the Summer Olympic Games in Munich, winner of the Asian Games bronze medal, participant of many international tournaments and national championships.

Biography

Kim Wu Gil was born on October 17, 1949. He achieved his first serious success in the ring in 1972 in minimum weight, when, thanks to a series of successful appearances, he won the right to defend the country's honor at the Summer Olympic Games in Munich . At the Olympics in the semifinals with a score of 3: 2, Spaniard Enrique Rodriguez defeated, but in the decisive match 0: 5 he lost to Hungarian Gyorgy Gedo .

Having received a silver Olympic medal, Kim continued for some time to enter the ring as part of the national team, taking part in major international tournaments. So, in 1974, he went to the Summer Asian Games in Tehran, from where he brought a bronze medal. Shortly after these competitions, he decided to end his athlete’s career and left the team.
