Suction disc

As a rule, small fish, with most species less than 6 centimeters in length. They have a narrow body with one dorsal fin and flat head. In most species, the ventral fins have been changed into the suction disk [2] . The lateral line is well developed, but does not extend to the back of the body.

Prisoskovye - sea bottom coastal fish with length from 16 mm to 30 cm, some species do not neglect estuary desalinated waters, and only some tropical species have passed to life in fresh waters. Swim bad. Most of the time is spent attaching to the bottom, stones, shell valves of mollusks and underwater vegetation. They lay their eggs on the same objects, protecting them during the development period. Many species inhabit the littoral, some descend to a depth of several hundred meters. Drying is very well tolerated: they can go without water for several days. Their coloring often has a camouflage character. Feeders feed on small benthic invertebrates. Industrial values do not have.
