The Institute of Psychology named after G. S. Kostyuk of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine was founded by Decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR on October 1, 1945 No. 1573, as the Scientific Research Institute of Psychology of the Ukrainian SSR and is subordinate to the Ministry of Education of the Ukrainian SSR. Accordingly, the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of June 16, 1992 No. 335, the Institute is subordinate to the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine. By the decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Institute was named after the outstanding Ukrainian scientist-psychologist Academician Grigory Silovich Kostyuk . Decree of the President of Ukraine dated February 24, 2010 No. 259 of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine granted national status.
