Content
History
- The Okrug Murom municipality was formed on December 11, 2001 in accordance with the Law of the Vladimir Region No. 137-OZ as a result of the unification of the city of Murom and the Murom district .
- November 11, 2004 Law of the Vladimir region number 179-OZ [6] municipality "District of Murom" is endowed with the status of the city district.
- On May 13, 2005, in accordance with the Law of the Vladimir Region No. 58-OZ [7], the Murom municipal district was allocated from the Okrug of Murom municipality . Apart from the city of Murom , settlements of the former Dmitrievsko-Slobodsky and Podbolotsky village councils remain in the “Murom District”.

The territorial and administrative reform of 2006, during which the Murom urban district was formed (Murom and 9 nearby rural settlements), numerically somewhat increased the number of citizens (according to 2006 estimates, there were 131,400 people). The total population of the urban district of Murom and the Murom district in 2009 amounted to 143 thousand people.
According to the 2010 census in the Murom district, the population increased to 123,908 people (men - 54 344; women - 69 564) [17] . In Murom district (Murom district is not included in the district) - 15 828 people (7182 women for men - 8646).
