The position of Treasurer of New York was established in 1801 to provide a counter signature on orders signed by the manager. Initially, the post of treasurer was in charge. Thirty years later, the treasurer was appointed head of the financial department, and in 1884 this position became elective. From 1874 to 1989, the treasurer was a member of the evaluation board, which in addition to him also included the mayor and president of the city council. After the liquidation of the evaluation board, the powers of the treasurer were significantly curtailed. The duties of the treasurer include the preparation of the annual financial report and the audit of all financial transactions. He is elected for four years and has the right of succession to the position of mayor second in order after the public lawyer of New York [2] . Since 2014, Scott Stringer has held the position of treasurer [3] .
