Corvette Description
Sailing wooden corvette . The length of the corvette was 39 meters , width - 10.7 meters , draft - 5.3 meters . The armament of the ship consisted of 24 guns. He was named in honor of the daughter of Emperor Nicholas I , Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna , because he was captured from the Turks on the day of Equal to the Apostles Princess Olga [1] [2] .
Service history
On July 11, 1829, a paratrooper landed from the brig " Orpheus " under the command of Lieutenant Commander EI Koltovsky, when taking a fortress and the city of Akhiollo on a slipway, was captured by a "not completely finished building" corvette [3] . The corvette was completed and, after being launched in September 1829, became part of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia under the name "Olga" [2] .
In 1829, the corvette moved from Akhiollo to Sevastopol . From 1830 to 1832 he was in practical sailing in the Black Sea .
In 1833, in the Nikolaevsky Admiralty, the corvette was converted into transport and renamed Akhiollo [2] .
In 1834 and 1835 he was at the port of Nikolaevsk. From 1836 to 1841 he sailed to the shores of the Caucasus as part of detachments and squadrons. He took part in the creation of the Caucasian fortified coastline. On June 7, 1837, in the squadron of Rear Admiral S. A. Esmont landed landings on Adler Cape, on April 13, 1838, in the squadron of Rear Admiral F. G. Artyukov , in the mouth of the Sochi River and on May 10, 1840, in the squadron of Vice Admiral M. P. Lazarev - at the mouth of the Tuapse River at Veliyaminovskogo fort. From 1842 to 1847, it was used to transport goods between the ports of the Black Sea [4] .
