Biography

Born in the village of Akintyevo [1] of the Chernsky district of the Tula province (in the territory of the present Chernsky district of the Tula region ) in the family of a peasant, the future chairman of the collective farm. Russian. After completing the seven-year plan, he entered the Engineering College in the city of Oryol . In his second year, he left school, returned to his native village and began working at the Spartak state farm. Externally passed the exams for the evening rabfak.

Since 1937 he studied first at the medical, and then at the military faculty of the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute . At the institute, starting from the third year, he was engaged in a surgical scientific circle. He participated as a second assistant in complex operations performed by Professor I. G. Rufanov , associate professors I. I. Mikhalevsky and M. D. Verevkin. At the same time he studied parachuting in the club of Osoaviahima .

In the Red Army officially since 1940 . The start of World War II by M.F. Gulyakin in a summer military camp near Rzhev . After some time, he returned to Moscow, in 3 months he graduated from the last course of the institute, received a diploma and was sent to the regular army.

Gulyakin was appointed head of the medical service of the 2nd battalion of the 1st airborne brigade of the 1st airborne corps.

Mikhail Filippovich received baptism of fire during the battle for Moscow . In December 1941, he participated in landing and combat operations on a rocky road between the Mozhaysk and Kaluga highways. In January 1942, the corps was transferred to the Volkhov Front , and until June 1942 Gulyakin treated the wounded and participated in landing and battles in the area of Staraya Russa and Demyansk .

In July 1942, the 1st Airborne Corps was transformed into the 37th Guards Rifle Division , and Guards Lieutenant Gulyakin was appointed commander of the reception and sorting platoon of the 38th Separate Guards Nursing Battalion. In this position he participated in the fierce battles of the Battle of Stalingrad in the Lesser Bend of the Don and in the factory towns of Stalingrad. He had to operate in the Don steppe near Stalingrad and on the right bank of the Volga during bombing and shelling. During the Battle of Stalingrad, there were days when up to 100 wounded per day for each surgeon of the medical battalion.

Then, together with his medical battalion and division as part of the 65th army of the Central , Belorussian , 1st and 2nd Belorussian fronts, Gulyakin participated in battles on the Kursk Bulge , in the forcing of the Dnieper , in the Belarusian operation, in battles on the Narev River in Poland , in the Slavic-Elbing operation , in the battles for the cities of Graudenz, Danzig and Stettin , he met victory in Germany on the Baltic Sea with the rank of Major Guard and the position of chief surgeon of the 38th separate guard medical battalion, commander of an operational platoon. During 4 war years in difficult and dangerous conditions, he did, saving the wounded, about 14 thousand operations. Among them were very complex ones - 2500 due to wounds in the chest and 700 - in the stomach.

After the war, M.F. Gulyakin served for several years in the Group of Soviet occupation forces in Germany . Most often he had to operate on front-line soldiers, who were brought to the operating table by the consequences of injuries.

M.F. Gulyakin chose the fight against one of the most serious diseases - cancer . Since 1949, he worked in the Main Military Clinical Hospital named after N. N. Burdenko as a senior resident. Then in 1960 he became the head of the surgical department and, finally, the main oncologist.

During his work in the hospital, Colonel of the Medical Service M.F. Gulyakin performed more than 20 thousand operations of varying complexity, saved and extended his life to a large number of patients, educated about 30 young military surgeons. He was awarded the title " Honored Doctor of the RSFSR ." He wrote an autobiographical book, “We Will Live,” which was published in Moscow in 1989 . [2]

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 21, 1978, he was awarded Mikhail Gulyakin Mikhail Filippovich for the contribution to the medical support of the military operations of the troops during the Great Patriotic War and in connection with the 60th anniversary of the Soviet Army and Navy title Hero of Socialist Labor .

In the mid- 1980s , Gulyakin retired with the rank of colonel. He lived in Moscow . He died on June 27, 1999 . He was buried in Moscow at the Troekurovsky cemetery [3] .
