Scientific Activities
FG Ovsienko, in his writings, explored modern Catholic philosophy ( ontology , gnoseology and anthropology of neo-Thomism and Teyyardism ), as well as new trends in theology. At the same time, they were given a critical analysis of the ethics and sociology of modern Catholicism. He advanced and substantiated the proposition that modern Catholic social doctrine, which is a combination of special political, economic, socio-ethical and culturological concepts, is in many points at odds with secular ideas about the nature of good and evil, about human dignity and social justice. . At the same time, he suggested that these differences, however, are not an obstacle to the direct cooperation of believers and unbelievers, as well as for their joint struggle against various social and political injustices. [4] [3]
Starting from the second half of the 1990s, he was engaged in the development of issues of state-church relations in Russia and abroad. [4] [6]

Reviews
PhD in Philosophy, Professor at the Department of State-Confessional Relations of the RANEPA Religious Studies Professor Yu. P. Zuev considers F. G. Ovisenko to be “ one of the leading Russian religious scholars ”. [5] He recalls that F. G. Ovsienko " was distinguished by wide scientific erudition, deep professionalism in the philosophical and methodological problems of religious studies and the history of religion " and " in the last decade has remained practically the only specialist in our country in the field of Catholicism ." Zuev notes that F. G. Ovsienko had a great pedagogical experience, and his lectures and seminars aroused keen interest among undergraduate and graduate students. F.G. Ovsienko “ perfectly mastered the art of forming the personality of a young scientist, instilling in him a taste for scientific research and professional honesty ”, was sincere and open in communication with people, spoke willingly to “share his experience and knowledge.” Zuev notes that F. G. Ovsienko had an “ extremely tolerant attitude towards people of different ideological positions and, at the same time, firmness in upholding his own convictions, his own position as a scientist .” [1] [6]
Candidate of Philosophy, Professor of the Department of State-Confessional Relations of the RANEPA Religious Studies R. A. Lopatkin believes that F. G. Ovsienko “ was a man of extensive knowledge, cultural interests and exceptional diligence, was a type of scientist who constantly binds his scientific researches and teaching activities with the fate of his native country ". He notes that, according to the worldview, F. G. Ovsienko " was a staunch atheist (not at all vulgar and not" militant "), did not change his views, but showed respect for the beliefs of other people, including religious ones ." Lopatkin points out that “ among those who defended dissertations and diplomas under his leadership were people of very different ideological positions, including believers of different religions and denominations, among them several Orthodox clerics, whom their teacher’s atheistic beliefs did not prevent he is a wise and deeply respected mentor .
