Roman Dmitrievich Buturlin (? - end of June 1581 ) - regimental and city governor under the reign of Tsar Ivan the Terrible , one of the four sons of okolnichi and governor Dmitry Andreevich Buturlin (d. 1575 ).

Biography
Member of the Livonian War . In 1569, Roman Buturlin was sent from the tsar to Izborsk in order to hand over the gold governors who had recaptured the city from the Lithuanians. In 1571 - the market in the royal campaign on the Oka to repel the Crimean Tatars. In 1573 he participated in a new military campaign against Livonia, was left by the governor in Paide .
In the spring of 1574, Roman Buturlin served as governor in Novosil , where he remained in 1575 . In 1576, R. D. Buturlin was the head of the rati of boyar Ivan Vasilyevich Sheremetev in Kaluga , in the autumn of that year he was appointed governor of Bolkhov , from where he was transferred to Orel on April 1, 1577 . In 1578, Roman Buturlin was a second time in the province of Bolkhov . In 1579 he took part in the Russian campaign against Livonia, and after returning from the campaign, he was sent against the Poles near Polotsk and Rugodiv .
In 1580, Roman Dmitrievich Buturlin was one of the governors in Porkhov . The following 1581 - the first governor of the advanced regiment in the Russian army, located in Mozhaisk , from where he participated in the campaign of ratification of Prince Dmitry Hvorostinin to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania . The royal governors devastated the surroundings of Dubrovna , Shklov , Orsha , Kopys and Mogilev . However, near Shklov, the governors met with strong resistance. Roman Buturlin died in battle with the Poles , who made a sortie from the city.
