Biography
At the age of 18, Karl Karl volunteered to serve as a trumpeter in the Bavarian 1st Regent Prince Luitpold's Field Artillery Regiment (Königlich Bayerisches 1. Feldartillerie-Regiment „Prinzregent Luitpold“). When the 4th regiment of field artillery was formed in Augsburg, he took the position of headquarters trumpeter in it by competition. Over 30 years, he headed the brass band of the Augsburg regiment (due to the small number of bandmaster’s orchestra in such regiments, it wasn’t supposed to) and achieved an unprecedented high quality of its performance. Often, King Ludwig II called him to Munich with the orchestra for musical accompaniment of royal dinners.
In 1890, he retired and died 8 years later.
The most famous of his works is “The Mussinan March”, written in honor of the retiring commander of the regiment’s regiment, Ludwig von Mussinan, who distinguished himself in the Franco-Prussian War . Along with him, composed a number of other marches and dances, which are currently stored in the Bavarian State Library.
