Creation History
Early years
Plans for the railway connection of Frankfurt Central Station to the main square of the city (Hauptwache) have existed since the 60s. Construction work on this project began in 1969. In 1979, the first phase of Citytunnel was opened, all lines of the city electric train passed through the section between the Central Station and Hauptwache Square . Initially, the following lines passed through the section north of Main , as follows:
