Biography

Dugerbiy Uzdenov was born on September 20, 1917 in the village of Tashkepur (now Karachay-Cherkessia ). He graduated from the pedagogical rabfak . In September 1937, Uzdenov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1939 he graduated from the Tambov Cavalry School. Participated in the battles of the Soviet-Finnish war , was wounded. From the first day of World War II - on its fronts. In the battles near Petrozavodsk he was seriously wounded. Returning to the front, he fought on the Kalinin front , was wounded four times. In June 1942, by order of the command, Uzdenov led a reconnaissance group operating in the enemy rear. After completing short-term courses of the GRU RKKA, he was abandoned in the German rear near Rivne [1] .

In a short time, Uzdenov managed to create a partisan detachment, registered with the GRU as part of special purpose No. 058. This detachment, acting independently, successfully controlled both the highways and the railways leading to Rivne. In November 1943, Uzdenov’s detachment joined the partisan unit under the command of Anton Brinsky and participated in raids on enemy rear in the Rivne , Zhytomyr and Kamenetz-Podolsk regions of the Ukrainian SSR . The fighters of Uzdenov’s detachment derailed about a hundred echelons, destroyed 25 bridges, about 150 tanks and armored personnel carriers, more than 200 artillery pieces, a large number of other military equipment, warehouses, railroad tracks, and enemy communication lines. Uzdenov’s detachment supported the activities of the famous scout Nikolai Kuznetsov . For these services, Brinsky introduced him to the title of Hero of the Soviet Union , but the performance was not realized because of Uzdenov’s nationality [1] .

In the summer of 1944, Uzdenov’s detachment merged with the advancing Soviet troops. In July of that year, he was again thrown into the enemy rear, this time in Poland , where he became deputy intelligence officer of the commander of the partisan detachment of the Polish Resistance. In September 1944, Uzdenov successfully removed the Polish general, Rohl-Jimerski , from occupied Warsaw . Uzdenov met the end of the war in Austria . In early 1946, with the rank of captain, he was transferred to the reserve and was forced to leave for Central Asia, however, thanks to the intercession of his colleagues, he managed to move to Leningrad . Initially, he worked as a turner at the factory, and in 1957 he was accepted for service in the bodies of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 1963 he returned to Karachaevsk , where he continued to work in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In 1975 he retired [1] .

By the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of March 17, 1995 for “courage and heroism shown in the partisan struggle against the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” Dugerbiy Uzdenov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Russian Federation with the Golden Star medal [1] .

He lived in Karachayevsk. He died in 2005, was buried in Karachayevsk [1] .

Honorary Citizen of Karachayevsk. He was also awarded the Order of the Red Banner , two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Order of Friendship , and a number of medals [1] .
