- January 4 - The Osmoglasnik set of Orthodox chants is published - the first book in the South Slavic states, printed in Cyrillic .
- February 5 - "Eternal Peace" between the Grand King of Poland and the Prince of Lithuania Alexander Yagellon and the Grand Prince of Moscow Ivan III , who ended the Border War 1487-1494 . Lithuania officially recognized the transfer to Russia of the princes Vorotynsky, Belevsky and Vyazemsky with possessions.
- May 3 (5) - Christopher Columbus, with his second expedition, first visited modern Jamaica .
