West Coast Conference Basketball Player of the Year ( West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year ) is an annual basketball award given by a vote to the best basketball player among students of the West Coast Conference (WCC) , part of the NCAA Division 1. Voting is held among the head coaches of the teams that make up the conference, and the coaches submit their votes at the end of the regular season , but before the start of the playoffs, that is, in early March, but they cannot vote for their own players. The award was established and first presented to Ken Sears of the University of Santa Clara in the 1952/53 season.

The conference officially began its activities in 1952, and then it included five teams, in 1955 three more teams were included in it, and in 1964 their number increased to nine. The WCC conference is one of the oldest conferences of the first division of the NCAA, and therefore the number of teams in its long history (currently there are only ten) has constantly changed due to the formation of new conferences into which a certain number of teams were transferred from already existing conferences .
Thirteen players: Ken Sears , Mike Farmer , Leroy Wright , Steve Gray , Olli Johnson , Keith Suogharty , Dennis Autry , Bill Cartwright , Quintin Daley , Duane Polee , Doug Christie , Steve Nash and Blake Stepp received this award several times, and only Cartwright got it three times. Five times the winners of this award became two players at once (1958, 1959, 1962, 1983 and 2007). Basketball players from Gonzagi University (16 times), Pepperdine University, San Francisco University and Santa Clara University (11 times) became the winners of the prize most often.
