Pre-election environment
On August 11, 2013, the primaries were held , which were to identify parties that passed the 1.5% barrier for subsequent participation in the parliamentary elections on October 27. [3]
Election Law Changes
According to the law, which entered into force in 2012, suffrage was granted to voters 16 and 17 years old. This increased the number of voters by 1.2 million people [4] , of which 600 thousand registered [5] . In addition, at the time of the election, voters were supposed to receive numbered ballots instead of the voting mark in the citizen’s personal document [6] .
Results
The October 27 elections generally reflected the results of the August 11 primaries. Although the Renovation Front (right-centrist Peronists) gained a majority in the most populated province of Buenos Aires [7] , the Front for the victory (left Peronists) with its allies retained an absolute majority in both houses of the Argentinean parliament [8] The turnout was 76%. [8] .
