Getting
- For the first time, cyanide iodine was obtained by Friedrich Wöhler in the interaction of dry potassium cyanide with iodine.
Physical Properties
Iodine cyanide forms colorless crystals.
It is poorly soluble in water with decomposition, well soluble in ether , which is used during purification by extraction .
Biological properties
Iodine cyanide is a strong poison, but it is inferior to hydrocyanic acid in terms of toxicity, a strong lacrimator .
Application
- Preservative in taxidermy .
